A striking line at Long wall at RRG. Route to first set of anchors is an absolute blast. The 10a section is past that, but fairly short. First set of achors was missing a bolt.

This is a photo of the little bit past the first anchor on Rock wars. The second anchors are just past the ledge.

so after that b!tch ran the red light, removed 40 hours worth of memory, destroyed my spealling skills, and put me in the hospital for two days, i told myself that i would take 6 months off from leading. well, turns out i didnt even make it for two once i saw rock wars. moral of the story, always wear your helmet, even if you are only biking two blocks. sluut (i led some sport the next day, but i don't really count that...) photo by Yves

My climbing partner took this picture of me following him up Rock Wars at Red River Gorge. Beautiful sandstone!

Christian said this climb was hard for 10a, probably because it is dirty. This climb takes wide gear at the bottom and the top. Pulling the roof looked like the pump crux. Beautiful line, needs to be climbed more.

Finger tip layback for about 60 feet or so and then hand size to the anchors. One of the best lines in the Red.

"Matt, you need to place a piece!"
Calmly, Matt says, "The crack is too wide, I think I'll just clip the anchors." Fun layback at the bottom, with steep hands at the top. Christian took this photo while I was belaying.

Rock Wars is the best crack that I have ever been on. The rock looks like Indian Creek combine with the New. Incredibly beautiful rock. Christian made this climb look so easy. He just flowed up the rock.

Rock Wars is the best 10a trad route at Red River Gorge in my opinion. Talk about perfect fingers in a dihedral. Great protection too.

This photo was shot in a downpour but you'd never know it because the overhanging rock above us acted as an umbrella.

The aiders were brought up because he had hoped to aid the large roof above Autumn over to the ledge on the right, downclimb some and rap off the Rock Wars anchors. Never happened because the second thought it would be suicide, so that project has been postponed indefinately and probably for good reason. I just liked the colorful rack!

Me on Rock Wars in Kentucky. The crux is the whole climb! My first 10a crack climb and have done many more since. Though this one has to be the best one yet! Photo taken by Hoppinbig

Got to put my microcams to good use on the first pitch. The second pitch although rated harder than the first seemed easier to me. The 2nd is short, but has a commiting move to get over to the anchors. This was a great climb to break into the 5.10 trad range. A beatiful section of wall and a must do - or must aspire to - climb!

Jason Burton took this photo of me while we were running solo laps on the last pitch of BC. I've climbed this route 30+ times.
