Dark Side of the Moon Lunar Flakes Pitch

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Dark Side of the Moon Lunar Flakes Pitch

Andrew Solow leading the 4th pitch. We kicked off the nasty looking one directly below the climber in the photo during the first ascent in 1977. It fell about 100 feet and sheared off the day pack we had left attached to the belay bolts at the top of the third pitch liquifying everything inside. Good thing I didn't fall when I was leading this particular part of the climb.

Dr. Bombay is underneath the big flake. The crux is climbing out of the bottomless horizontal chimney and into the hand size crack on the left.

Dr. Bombay 1st Ascent - 1

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Dr. Bombay 1st Ascent - 1

It looks a lot easier and less exposed than it actually is. A short vertical crack and face quickly becomes a bottomless horizontal chimney. The trick is to do the whole thing without hanging out and resting on your pro.
