First ice fall of the season. This was the 4th or 5th pitch out of 11. It was a beautiful day!

How many #1's fit into one crack?

Average Rating = 4.25/5 How many #1's fit into one crack?

This was my first 5.10 crack lead, so I was pretty nervous. I must have placed at least 8-9 pieces, including 4 #1's!

Right after rapping down from the Fiamma(flame) of Albigna, we looked out and saw this rainbow arching over the valley below.

Benefits of Size-Dependent Beta

Average Rating = 4.50/5 Benefits of Size-Dependent Beta

Taz and I worked this 6c route together on our Dolomites trip. It was great to work out the moves of a route with someone who is not a foot taller than me. I finally sent the route on my fourth try. Picture by Paolo75.

Val di Mello Highball

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Val di Mello Highball

This boulder problem follows a vertical crack which becomes a horizontal crack and finally tops out on fairly high up on the boulder. The real crux is the descent, which requires sliding down moss and using two large trees as a chimney.

Lightning Bug

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Lightning Bug

This was my first 12a. I was pretty psyched to get it before my guy friends that day. It's follows a slopey arete with some crimpy holds as well. Super fun!

Exasperator...finally!

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Exasperator...finally!

Ever since I saw Lynn Hill climb this crack in a Petzl video, I've wanted to climb it. This summer I finally got to. I did both pitches in one for an amazing long thin crack pitch.

Descent from La Fedele

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Descent from La Fedele

After topping out of 17 pitches, we still had a precarious scramble along a chossy ledge to descend down to Passo Pordoi. The views were spectacular. Picture by Steve-o

I took this shot on the approach trail to l'Aguglia. The tower sits on the actual coast with the beach below.

View from l'Aguglia

Average Rating = 3.00/5 View from l'Aguglia

The summit of l'Aguglia is big enough for 2 or maybe 3 people. You have a direct view straight down of the tourists on the beach below. Spectacular tower!

Average Rating = 3.75/5 First Desert Lead

A short but sweet 5.9, which was definitely an engaging first lead at the Creek.

So far to go...

Average Rating = 4.00/5 So far to go...

On pitch four of the Nose, El Cap loomed above us like a sea of granite, reminding us just how much further we had to go.
