Picture of me on mental blocks. An epic day on an epic climb. Not a technically difficult climb, but a tedious, complex one.

The start of a great little route which moved up and out to the arete. The cliff drops away around the corning giving an amazing view and nice sense of exposure for such a short climb. Nice cliff in general.

A beautiful climb on a great day. Good moves, good gear and awsome exposure for such a short route.

This is the marker for the "summit" of orizaba. The summit is just the highest point along the crater rim, The real summit would have been mugh higher several thousand years ago before it erupted.

This is from the approach to the base of the mountain. The Hut is "just" up over that little ridge in the forground. I would suggest following the road though, short cuts OVER things at 14K arent all that short :P

Some people may think that the two of us had a mental block when we decided to drive up to the daks when snow was forcasted for lake placid(we also left at 1am without having slept that night :p). Managed to get in 2 pitches before it started snowing hard enough to make the thought of trying to negotiate a small bit of 5.7X trad unappealing enough to suggest we take advantage of the fixed anchor to retreat. The snow made everything very beautiful..and slippery. When this picture was taken i hadnt slept in about 26 hrs.....boy was the drive home fun.
ps. as this is a pic of me i obviously didnt take it.

I took this just after we started climbing up the glacier. This picture doesnt even begin to do the sunrise justice. I highly recomend this route as it was alot of fun, with incredible scenery, yet was not very technical and did not take very long. we did the climb over spring break and had a few days to spare which we spent in Pueblo, mexico chillin and eatin. http://www.mjgradziel.com/mexico02/mex2002.html
thats my friends website with more pics and his trip report.
