Campfire pic

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Campfire pic

Just a profile shot - taken during Odyssey Adventure racing's Beast of the East '04 in Big South Fork Rec Area in KY/TN. This was at the bottom of the rap site. The overhang we were set up in went back probably about 75 feet under the cliff.

Take a load off, Fanny

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Take a load off, Fanny

After getting about 8 hours of sleep in 4 days, it was nice to be able to take the pack and boots off. When I dropped em by the cabin door, it looked like a pretty good shot, so I took it, played with photoshop, and this was the result. Opinions?

Belay loops gone wild

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Belay loops gone wild

Pics of belay loops both facing the right way, with weight bearing on the webbing of a harness, and the wrong way, with weight bearing on the padding of the harness. Happened when belay loop flipped around the buckle of the harness before it was fastened.

Adam being Adam

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Adam being Adam

This is my buddy Adam doing an Aussie rap off the line we set up for the jumar portion of an adventure race in B.S.F. He freefalled for about 190 feet and didn't break until he was about 10 feet above the deck.

B.S.F. local

Average Rating = 0.00/5 B.S.F. local

This little guy showed up the last day of the race. I was packing the rest of my gear and saw him just chilling out where I had my bivy sack a little while earlier. Didn't think the snakes would still be active in late November, but obviously they are.

Hidden sandstone

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Hidden sandstone

Apparently, even though this is in the guidebook for the area, it is not climbed that often. I found a bunch of bolted lines, but absolutely no chalk... even on the overhangs where the chalk would survive the rain. This is a really sweet area. On the original, you can see there are two or three lines bolted up the obvious water streaks. Bout 60-80 feet.

Hangin around

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Hangin around

200 foot fixed line set up for an adventure race in B.S.F. last week. After practicing self rescues from a jumar, we played around with different techniques of jugging. I still prefer two hand, one leg. Works better for topping out or working a face.

Cathedral Wall corner

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Cathedral Wall corner

This is the corner that marks the end of the overhang and starts the face. Just a beautiful area.

Seneca Rocks profile

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Seneca Rocks profile

Drove over 6 hours to go climbing, was welcomed by 4 straight days of rain. This is what Seneca Rocks looks like with a nice overcast sky between downpours.

Icebox Canyon waterfall

2 1/2 miles later - wow. This amphitheater was huge... I chose a pic with me in it to give some perspective.

Bouldering in approach shoes

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Bouldering in approach shoes

I was off to do some hiking and climbing at the Calico II pull off and I found this sweet seam. This is a pic of me on the first couple of moves. I didn't feel like switching my shoes out, and I don't know the grade - but who cares.

Rappin from Snake Castle

Average Rating = 2.17/5 Rappin from Snake Castle

Rappin down the cliff face below one of the towers from Snake Castle after a day of climbing. http://www.wwbs.freeserve.co.uk/Turkey.htm (This castle is an outstanding example of Armenian workmanship. Though not much is known about the castle's history, it is believed to have been built by Leo II during the crusades.)
