Snake Dike Runouts

Average Rating = 3.60/5 Snake Dike Runouts

We brought way too much gear for this route, but luckily I was able to con Kelsey (prezwoodz) into carrying it all on lead (heh heh heh). Here's one of the infamous near-full-pitch runouts on Snake Dike, and yes, that bolt is his only pro for this pitch.

Impending Doom

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Impending Doom

Kelsey (prezwoodz) looks all happy from the hanging belay at the top of the second pitch of Touchstone Wall. This was near the start of our day, before we ran out of water halfway through, spent 11.5 hours total on the wall, and rapped off after dark, almost too weak to pull the ropes together. Good times!

Summer Sun

Average Rating = 4.12/5 Summer Sun

Kelsey (Prezwoodz) looks down from atop Ancient Art. Climbed it in the cool of the early morning, and I wish I could have sat at the top all day. I'll go back again for this one. Shot with my little point and shoot, which wasn't man enough for the angle, so this is three pics stitched together.

Kelsey (Prezwoodz) reaches to make the clip on Oz, 5.11c in the Red River Gorge. Somehow we mistook this for a 5.10c in the guidebook and sandbagged ourselves, but we did alright.

Kelsey (Prezwoodz) pops over the lip during our onsight up- and down-climb free solo in the rain wearing street shoes of the Owen-Spalding Route up the Grand Teton. It's not nearly as impressive as it sounds, but it's just a whole lot of fun to say!

Lifelong Dreams Come True

Average Rating = 4.19/5 Lifelong Dreams Come True

Of course this photo is ENTIRELY photoshopped. When leaving Alaska on a multi-month road trip, both me and Kelsey (Prezwoodz) simultaneously expressed a lifelong dream of buildering a bridge, and promtply decided to fulfill said dream. If this were real, that would be Kelsey on top of the Tanana River Bridge, but of course, nobody would actually DO such a thing. That's illegal!

Okay, so Alaska boys used to oceans of slabby granite were more than slightly out of place under the stunning display of mass suspension put on by the overhangs in Thailand, but we managed to find a couple of routes that weren't beyond us. This is Kelsey (Prezwoodz) on Mekhong Crazy 6a+.

This picture spells perfection. Stellar weather, a stunning view, a comfortable pad, a beautiful girl, and unlimited problems flavored sweet by the warmth of the sun. If I had it to do all over, I would change nothing except to make it last forever.

Glaring Will Make it So

Average Rating = 3.43/5 Glaring Will Make it So

As the photographer on my climbing trips, I don't get many good pics of myself in action. Hats off and much thanks to Climber_Chick for snapping this one of me eyeing the next hold on a problem at Weiner Lake, Alaska. My Madrock Hookers finally failed me on this problem, by peeling off my foot and therefore the rock whenever I tried to heel hook a nubbin. I believe my foot there is in mid-peel right at this moment. I was sad.

Hey Acapulco...

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Hey Acapulco...

When I went to Smith, we had hot days and cold beverages. Around here, we do things just about the opposite, with cold days and hot coffee, but some things just always stay the same! This is me braving the 15* slacklining weather Alaska style with a front-flip-180.

Random Bouldering in Reed

Average Rating = 3.40/5 Random Bouldering in Reed

We hit up this boulder on our way out as the sun was pushing shadows closer to us. Gotta love being able to climb 24 hours around the solstice up here. A good way to finish off an incredible day, and also the only picture of me from the whole time. The drawbacks of carrying the camera, I guess. Pic taken by Winston.

Edited and resubmitted under new less painful size limits. :)

Won't Be Needing That Chalk

Average Rating = 3.64/5 Won't Be Needing That Chalk

Craig works the crux of Festoon 5.9 on an icy September day. And by icy, I mean there were icicles on the next route we climbed. If you wonder about that bolt, it's there because Festoon, like many other Hatcher Pass climbs, is mixed. The crux is unprotectable with gear, so bolts were placed.

Resubmitted under new size limits because granite is so bad at compressing. The background blur I created digitally.

What's the Rush?

Average Rating = 3.67/5 What's the Rush?

This is just a shot of the 125 foot line I had up a while back. Nothing special, just a good display of the length. I took the pic myself, and that's me mounting the line. Quite a fun workout on a ten second timer to race across the roof, drop to the crashpad on the porch, sprint across the lawn, and still have the composure to mount without dying. It took a lot of tries to get this.
