Plot of the impact velocity against R

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Plot of the impact velocity against R

Shown are the results of the original model and the updated model with an elastic pendulum. The data has been normalised wrt the impact velocity of an idealised pendulum.

Schematic of problem setup

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Schematic of problem setup

The length of the rope from the last runner is R (which has been normalised wrt horizontal distance). h is the vertical distance the climber falls before the rope gets tight. The velocity measured is the impact velocity at the wall.

Just beneath the crux of relax. The crux is going over the bulge on small, hard to find, crimpers to a good pocket above the bulge.

Watch where that rope is!

Average Rating = 5.00/5 Watch where that rope is!

The crux of this route was right off the deck, which at the time was at my limit. I fell clipping the second bolt. My belayer was standing a bit back and I fell on the rope between my arm and body. This was my souvenir! Stung like crazy but thankfully us sports climbers are made of stern stuff ;-)

Enrico and daithi consulting the guidebook to find the "easy scramble" to the base of the cliff. He tends to get lost fairly easily and never listens to my directions :-) I am on the left BTW

Gelati - is there anything nicer?

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Gelati - is there anything nicer?

On a day off from climbing in Italy. Did some hiking instead. Not my idea of a rest day I must confess. Here we are taking a rest as we walked back down through a village. Real Italian icecream is amazing! Yum yum! From left to right: Philipp, Dave, Scott, daithi (pulling a stupid face - whenever a camera is pointed at me I have the compulsion to start making faces!) and Enrico. Christoph is behind the camera.

I believe I can fly

Average Rating = 2.00/5 I believe I can fly

daithi wondering if he has a good long run up, can he make the lake if he jumps. With his knowledge of aerodynamics he determines he will have to keep his arms outstretched to provide some lift if he is to make it. Like R. Kelly I believe I can fly.
