Scan 3 of one my proudest climbing moments, flashing Full Tilt Boogie in the Tilted World of Shortoff Mt., Linville Gorge, NC, 2002-ish. This is probably rotated a little, which makes it seem steeper... not that it needed any help. Heh.

It's been shot from this angle before, but here's my take on it. This is mr8615 past the cruxy bits and into the romp to the top.

I have a theory that, in the NRG region, we spend most of our climbing lives within 10 meters of a copperhead. Their camouflage is so perfect, we just rarely see them.

Still largely undeveloped, the Meadow Top Boulders are regarded by many locals as the best bouldering in the area. Danno bags an early ascent, not the FA, of a choice arete that was a little too slimy last summer.

Dutyje on the first ascent of Giving a Nod. Short, but a lot of variety makes this a fun climb.

Is it worth it like to hang several meters off the deck just to shoot your friends climbing? Check this photo: http://www.rockclimbing.com/photo/photo_show.php?id=77760 and judge for yourself.

Smack dab in the the crux of Encore... and the Fat Lady. The two routes share the first 20 feet or so, and then Encore breaks left through even steeper terrain. This is the character of Hawksbill climbing -- steep, clean, juggy and TRAD! Photo by tuna.

Is it the single best trad route of its grade in the state? I think so. Jugs almost the whole way, text-book letter-box TCU placements... what more could you want? Oh, right... an ever-steepening, breaking wave of impeccable high-quartz sandstone including a stunning, foot-cutting, heel-hoooking roof finish! Photo by Tuna.
