Buildering the Ensign Peak Monument

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Buildering the Ensign Peak Monument

While shooting the sunset and city lights from the top of Ensign Peak we couldn't resist the allure of the very climbable monument at the summit. Ensign Peak is near the mouth of City Creek Canyon overlooking Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake.

TR on the thin crack

Average Rating = 0.00/5 TR on the thin crack

This may be the moment when I became addicted to climbing. I toproped this unnamed crack on my second day out. It is a brutally thin finger crack that starts and stops several times. Since the bolts have been chopped this will be a hard line to protect. Photo by Joe.

Jumping a wash in the Fiery Furnace

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Jumping a wash in the Fiery Furnace

This is me on a backcountry climbing/canyoneering trip in Arches' Fiery Furnace. We were exploring a dead-end canyon and found this great slot canyon/wash that just begged for this type of antic. Photo by dirtonlip.

Unknown Climbers on Owl Rock

Average Rating = 3.29/5 Unknown Climbers on Owl Rock

The light was good and the sky looked great so I snapped this pic of Owl Rock. I never found out who the climers were. If you recognize yourself send me a PM so I can credit appropriately.

Little Half Dome rap with Santa Anna in the background

Average Rating = 3.75/5 Little Half Dome rap with Santa Anna in the background

Preparing to rap Little Half Dome on Mt. Rubidoux. This was the last day of 2004, and the first clear day after the December rain. The sky was clean and clear and everything covered in winter grass. The Center Crack is a short 5.8, great for gear placement; unfortunately we didn't bring any. Photo by Joe, our official climbing photographer.

Mark on Center Crack, Little Half Dome (5.8)

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Mark on Center Crack, Little Half Dome (5.8)

Reaching for the next hold on the Center Crack on Little Half Dome on Mt. Rubidoux. Fun, easy climb; nice grippy crack that thins a little near the top. We were on a multi-city trip and flying lite se we didn't have much gear; 30m 8mm twin rope, webbing and a couple lockers. Dirtonlip is belaying. Joe, a non-climber (and our favorite climbing photographer), clipped in to the bolt to get the shot.
