Tricky start, easy finish

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Tricky start, easy finish

This is a great beginner route for leading. The hard part is at the beginning as you can see and then the end jugs out. Ofcourse the rock is beautiful too.

Tyrolean Traverse at Twin Falls

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Tyrolean Traverse at Twin Falls

Last summer at Camp Orr I trained to become a climbing instructor with the BSA. We had to learn how to rig, derig, and use a tyrolean traverse. It was awesome. I would highly suggest it to anyone who hasn't experience it. I like to think of it as a horizontal rap.

Highland's trail section 4

Average Rating = 1.80/5 Highland's trail section 4

At the beginning of Section 4 of the Highland's Trail, there are a bunch of large boulders that are covered in moss, but you can still find a couple of interesting lines if you are willing to deal with dirt, etc.

Above Crag Central on Magazine

Average Rating = 3.60/5 Above Crag Central on Magazine

Amanda and I arrived at Magazine the day after the Forestry Department decided to burn off 4700 acres of forest in preparation of the new $40million lodge & 10 cabins being built on top of Magazine. Big impact! You can still see the smoke in the valley in this pic.

At the Top of Cruise Control

Average Rating = 3.00/5 At the Top of Cruise Control

Amanda just topped out Cruise Control. This is a pretty nice 5.7 flake. What I love about is that you have 5.11 & 12s on both sides of you that you can swing to if you want to up the stakes. Plus it has a great view of the valley from the cave on top.

Here I am belaying on Cruise Control. This route is a great route to trad or toprope. I can't get over the wonderful cave on top you can chill in. You have a great view of the Nose and a couple other classic routes from here.

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Watch out for this crew!

This is a nice profile pic of Me, Amanda, Bucky, and Stacey after climbing on Valentines day. You can almost bet to be the only people at the crag when the temperatures go below 30 in Arkansas. What a beautiful day!

The first move on Necessary 5.11?

Average Rating = 2.00/5 The first move on Necessary 5.11?

This is the first move of this climb. It is pretty nice, with some bouldering techniques. Once you are over this, the route is pretty smooth to the anchors. It is rough on the fingers in the winter though.

Toproping Triple Technique

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Toproping Triple Technique

I can't remember the rating on this crack. I want to say its a 5.7 or 8? It is a dirty trad route, but you can rig a toprope and still stick the jams if you want. This route is best in the summer when it HASN'T rained in a while.

This is the rugged "arkansashippie" caught off guard by the camera. Our team works alot around the 5.10 wall, it's a must climb for visitors and great for variations and skill.

The family.

Average Rating = 2.71/5 The family.

I know this has nothing to do with climbing, but I have to give respect to the family and let everyone know that family does come first. Here at Devil's Den State Park we are simply enjoying the weather in the summer of '03.
