Here I am, preparing to fall off of my first (fairly) hard sport route, Decompression Sickness (5.10b). Only one fall for the route though, so I felt pretty good. Thanks to Ben for the awesome catch.

This was a great day. Looking at the pictures afterward, I was struck by the contrast of the black and red of the rock.

I love the sea-cliffs all around Okinawa. It's easy to get distracted at a rest point, just looking around and enjoying the scenery. This is one of the few (comparatively) finger-friendly places on island. The rock is beautiful smooth granite (I think), and there are no particularly sharp edges.

This is definitely the hardest route I've ever been on. Not rating-wise, because I've climbed 11's on limestone, but style-wise. The tiny crimps and mostly nonexistent toe-holds were so alien to me, I felt like I was coming off the wall every second. LOTS of fun, though. Photo by SuperGirl.

More from my first day outdoors... this was an easy route, maybe a 5.6, but the guide wouldn't let me lead it... oh well. Next time I'm in Vegas, I guess.

This was taken on the Panty Wall at Red Rock Canyon. It was also my first time ever climbing outside of the gym. What a great day!
