Winter ascend of Hindelanger Klettersteig (partly)

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Winter ascend of Hindelanger Klettersteig (partly)

Winter ascend of a klettersteig (=via ferrata) at perfect conditions, enjoying some solitude just above a crowded ski resort. The big mountain you see just left of the ridge ist the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in germany.

Climbing the Paternkofel

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Climbing the Paternkofel

Guidebook says: Nice classic, fun, well travelled ... Qwert says: 5 rusty pitons on six pitches, loose, rotten stone and gravel everywhere, easy to get off route, but extremely funny with a bunch of drunks and nice view at the Drei Zinnen. But the most remarkable thing is that the top of the mountain was stuffed with guns and barbed wire, so that one could shoot at the enemys on the next mountain during world war one. They even did dig a tunnel (wich is now part of a vie ferrate) to get to the summit without getting shot. War is sick.

Morning view

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Morning view

The Langkofel as i saw it when i awoke on a meadow at the passo di sella. Like all the days it was cloudy, and you could only see the mountains for a few minutes a day.

The mighty

Average Rating = 4.00/5 The mighty "Drei Zinnen"

The north faces of the "drei Zinnen" are among the most important places when it comes to the history of european alpinism, with its many routes that where/are milestones of alpinism, at the moment led by Alex Hubers route Bellavista, a 8c with no bolts apart from the belays. But the "drei Zinnen" do also have another, dark history. During world war one Austria was fighting against Italy, and the other way round, with the battlefront going through valleys and mountaintops. The base of the "kleine Zinne" (the left one in the picture) has artificial caves where machine guns used to be mounted and you will find lots of barbed wire in the gravel fields below, or even old granades.

Changin' towers

Average Rating = 3.20/5 Changin' towers

hard to discribe this one ... Well... We set up a rope between the first two of the Vajolet towers and went from one to the other. You dont see it in the photo, but there is a large gap between the two towers, and as you can see from the background these things are pretty high. I need to learn how to actually walk such lines and come back ...

Lukas trying on

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Lukas trying on "Sturm der Leidenschaft"

Lukas trying to lead "Sturm der Leidenschaft" 9/~5.12c~ Since i had only set up one rope for photographing and the wall is really slick, i couldnt get into another good position for shooting him. I think the "framing" ads "something", even if it might be a crotch shot *lol*

Average Rating = 2.20/5 big wall furniture 2

A chair hanging an a rock? Think im crazy? maybe youre right, but this action brought me some good marks, since i hauled my chair up my favorite rock for an arts projekt in school. And since nobody believed me that i would do THAT, the results where quite good. Hope you like it too.

feeling well protected?

Average Rating = 1.00/5 feeling well protected?

Quiz: Where is the protection? is it a) a cam so far in the crack that you cant see it, or b) a rusty pithon, looking like one of those leafs. The winners will get a link, to a nice picture of a bottle of beer.

buttshot of me on

Average Rating = 2.50/5 buttshot of me on "Talseite"

Me on "Talseite", Nägelesfels Credits for this phote go to my little brother who took it. The photo doesnt quite match to the quality of the route, a rounded 6+ (5.10a) crack, but its the only photo I found of me and it has a nice blue sky in the background.

Sunset on the island of Lipari

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Sunset on the island of Lipari

This shot came to its life only by luck. I took my camera and just pressed the trigger, hoping to get "some shot of those rocks". Taken the fact that i was on a boat, and there wasnt much light im very happy with the result. I dont know if there are any climbing areas on the Eolian Islands, but there shurely are lots of potential.

Strombolicchio, rock next to the island of Stromboli

Average Rating = 2.83/5 Strombolicchio, rock next to the island of Stromboli

This is a picture of the? Strombolicchio, a small rock, that consists out of very "young" vulcanic rock, like all of the Eolian Islands. The main island, Stromboli, is an active vulcano, that errupts hot ashes and lava every few hours or minutes, depending on the vulconoes temper.

This is my brother, climbing out fot the shadows on "Zahn der Zeit" 7 (~5.10c), Nägelesfels. Interesting fingersized crack, with its crux at the end, so no Redpoint for him (and me also).
