Winter summit of Mt. Washington

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Winter summit of Mt. Washington

This is a photo of me taking by my friend Tim back in Feb 2001. If memory serves me, it was about 0degrees at the base (don't remember about the summit) with about 60mph winds at the summit. Completely white-out. We got separated going up, but met up at the top. Kind of a bummer to summit in a parking lot. Coming down, I slipped and fell "buns over tea-kettle" down Tuckerman's as one woman pointed out. Thankfully the fall was short and everything was fine.

Cotton Kills

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Cotton Kills

Ok, here's what lead up to this picture. I never really did much hiking before my bros and I were going to climb the East Face. I had all the gear I needed and even took extra, because from all the books I've read, it was quite possible we'd be waiting out the weather for days. Needless to say, my pack weighed 90lbs. Also, although my boots were broken in, I didn't know anything about synthetic socks, so...I wore cotton. Day 1, hike from 8000 to just under 12000. Day 2 climb East Face. Day 3 hike down from 12000 to 8000 and take picture of painfully blistered feet. 11 blisters in all. Let this be a lesson to all.

First Trad Lead -- EEEE!!!!!

Average Rating = 2.25/5 First Trad Lead -- EEEE!!!!!

This is a 5.5 route named Candy Corner at Seneca, but it scared the crap outta me. I had never placed gear before; only seconded a bunch of times. Typical first timer, I placed too much gear low and had to run it out at the end. The crux was the fact that this route kept bowing out, but afterwards I was glowing like crazy! Taken by Tim Aiello.

Start of 2nd Pitch

Average Rating = 3.14/5 Start of 2nd Pitch

This shot was taking by gbschmitt of Tim and me. Due to my feet (see previous pic of my feet) and skill, Tim ended up leading pretty much the entire route. We did this in late summer, and still Iceberg Lake was surrounded by snow. The drop off here and on the Fresh Air Traverse was AMAZING! (gbschmitt and climboard were the other two we climbed with)

Sticky_Fingers at 2nd Clip

Average Rating = 2.89/5 Sticky_Fingers at 2nd Clip

Dang I love this route, 11b. Here I am clipping the second bolt. The start looks kinda spooky cuz of the wall behind you, but the holds are crazy big. A little higher up the climb bows out (overhangs), but then it comes back. The main crux is at the 2nd bolt from top--think of a mirror image of the crux on Z-Slash at Great Falls, MD and you're set. Photo was taken on the ledge coming out from the tunnel by my friend Alex.
