A view of the big ice wall taken from the road. Lots of ice and a variety of routes to be climbed...

The big ice wall on the right is just past the Old Man, on the way to Marble Mountain from Corner Brook. This huge flow is the only place I have ever seen ice climbers in Newfoundland

This shows the potential ice route up the main face of the Old Man. I drove past this formation hundreds of times growing up, before I even knew about climbing. After moving away from Newfoundland and discovering climbing, I've been having my dad e-mail me pics of areas I want to go back and climb.

An overview shot that shows two potential ice routes on the Old Man wall, one up under the Old Man and exiting left though a gully, and another route off to the left almost out of the frame. I hope to make it back to NL at some point to climb these.

We ran into a group of strong climbers from Quebec, which was cool... since we're Canadian as well and now live in VT. We head up to Quebec quite a bit and it was cool to run into people who were from even further away than we were. This route was on my "to do" list, but I left it till too late in the trip.

I'm always amazed at the stuff you find when climbing, like this massive hueco in Red Rocks. Photo by Ara.
