From the trail to the base of the route "K2" You can see most of the south of Rio de Janeiro. The Highest hill on the left is Cabritos. On the right you see a small section with great Sport Routes. Almost hidden behind Cabritos is Cantagalo with some of the best climbs in Rio.

It may not look like a climbing photo but it is! This picture is what 'urban' climbing is all about. Not climbing buildings, but climbing rocks in the middle of a big city. No matter where you live in Rio you are allways a walking distance from a rock...
And what about an afternoon of trad climb, to look down and see nothing, nothing but the famous and busy copa-copacabana.

Although you can climb at any time in Rio, the humidity and sun of the summer can be cruel. For that matter we consider mid-fall to mid-spring the best period for mountain sports and every year we go to Urca to celebrate The Mountaineering Season Opening of Rio de Janeiro

A map to help travelers comming to Rio de Janeiro. It is out of proportions but I believe it can be very helpful.
Since the map is out of proportions:
Pedra da Gavea: 842m
Corcovado: 704m
Pão de Açucar: 396m
and Pico da Tijuca, not in te map but still inside the City, is the tallest with 1020m
