Average Rating = 2.50/5 Three Climber Girls without Ropes

Three unknown climbers from Montana free solo the Solar Slab Gully. When the sun was out it was warm. The weather, however, quickly deteriorated (we even got some hail) and the under dressed girls retreated. Photo by Mitchal November 2004.

G on the first pitch of Johnny Vegas. We climbed through every equatorial region on this climb...from blistering sun to hail! I guess that is what November climbing in Red Rocks is all about. Photo by Mitchal.

Now I have two bad feet

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Now I have two bad feet

This is my left foot, the day after my surgery. I now have two bad feet. My right foot was operated on 3 weeks ago and while it's improving, it's not 100% (and won't be for several more weeks). I thought that I might not be able to force myself through a second surgery, but, this one went a lot easier. I guess I knew what to expect.

The day after Mitch's wrist surgery. We had to go back to the doctor due to heavy bleeding during the night. He had a bone removed, a bone graft and plates and screws inserted to repair a very messed up wrist. He will not be able to climb until August.

Mitchal rapping off after setting up a top rope. Anchors included 3 pine trees and a great crack. It's easy to scramble up the left hand side of the rock to set up top ropes. Bring long webbing or static line. There are a couple of bolts on the top of the rock as well.

The Main Wall

Average Rating = 0.00/5 The Main Wall

This is a view of the main (and most popular) climbing wall at Hammond Pond. It is puddingstone, an unsual rock to climb, with lots of little features for your hands and feet. There are some very fun cracks as well. This is a great place to take newbies and practice your gear placements. Even if you screw up your placements, the climbs are moderate and the landings really nice.
