New Zealand is a small country with diverse and challenging climbing areas where you seldom need to que for a climb. We have a bit of everything, often in very picturesque settings. I guess most of the hits on this page are from countries other than NZ, so the content is aimed at providing an over-view of each area, and will be light on specific route info. The regions are arranged pretty much from North to South, the South Island starts at:"Nelson/Tasman". Much of the information here regarding south Island locations has been gleaned from the "South Island Rock" guide, with the kind permission of co author Lindsay Main. Most Information on North Island crags has sourced from www.freeclimb.co.nz with the kind permission of Cliff Ellery.
