The 5.9 start is the way to climb this route if you are up for it. It is a great first pitch that takes good gear. Once the start meets the original line it will be busy so get on it early and climb fast.

excellent! the final mantle is not hard but you have to be confident pulling it... else ankles will break

the original start is better- this one is thin and awkward, imho.

passed two parties who were on the normal start by doing this variation.

Awesome route, my first climb in the Valley.

I would bring a gray alien for pro at the crux. Fairly sustained and enjoyable route.
