We had no idea what we were doing, and somehow got up this with sheer willpower. It was years ago, but I remember 2 things: 1. Feeling terrified the whole way, 2. That the only way out was up.

Did 2 times. As first on the wall starting with 10 pitches of Muir wall. Second time did Dorn Direct A4- and try The Shield clean. Did Grove as C4, Triple Crack as C4+ + 1 piton at the end, Super Crack start unnecessary with 1-2pitons (because use earlier) and finish as C3+. Nothing was fixed

Wow! The shield headwall is just an amazing place to be. Pitch 7 up to the Sheild roof goes clean pretty easily. My partner led the groove which had hardly as much fixed gear as we expected. Logged a 40 footer on the triple cracks. Blasted to the top from the eleventh belay.
