4 out of 5 stars One of the best 12a in Squamish

Every time you try, you will find you can rest many places on the route.

5 out of 5 stars The Best 12a in Squamish.

Some of the other 12's in Squamish can be pretty jazzy. I'm thinking of climbs like Last Train to Hicksville, and a few others in the Smokes which are pretty repellant. And then you have Black Water. It is the best 12a pitch in Squamish. Contrary to the other reviews, the holds are not micro, but adequate, and quite positive. It’s their frequency which makes Black Water so enjoyable and pumpy. The climb is sustained right up to a ramp close to the crux. The climb was originally given an 11d rating, and I’d say that 11d better reflects the difficlty.

An amazing route! the best on the Pet. At the traverse, keep going to the right for a hands-off rest. High step at the crux, rock-over on to your left foot, reach up, and it's over. The finish was, unfortunately, retro-bolted.
