4 out of 5 stars Trad/Anchor Training Site

This is a wall used by the UNM Mountaineering club for their Trad I class on anchor building and introducing trad climbing. Nice rock with lots of protection options.

I climbed two routes on the west face of Ranger Station. the first was a 5.7 face climed about 40-50 feet tall. The crux was a small mantle move that required good foot placement. I was able to top this climb first time with some beta from my instructor, this was an excellent climb that challenged my skills as a beginner. The second route was a 5.8 crack that was about 40-50 feet tall. The crux was an area that required a lieback to climb, this was a very advanced move that took 3 tries and allot of coaching from my instructor, but toping this climb was one of the most rewarding experiences to date. This is an excellent area to top rope and learn the basics of climbing.
