Taken for Granite
Nice couple of walls in this area. We hit these routes on return from climbing Firewater Chimney, perhaps the best route in Jtree. Both of these 5.8 climbs, given high accolades in Miramonte's book, deserve same. This one is the continuation of the chimney and takes as much gear as you want to place until the easy face climbing at the end. We rapped with a single to the top of the chimney, then placed a gear rap so we could get down and cleaned it when doing 200 Motels. A 70m makes it down from that route. Good stuff.

Followed Peter. Quite nice climbing, but very easy at end. We walked off by heading to the left, and then downclimbing a short section(easy downclimb, but don't fall off as you could go for a loooong ride). There is a rap setup which leads close enough back to the base of routes. Rap, then walk back to the base, passing behind a tree, another 20 feet or so, and then a 6-8 foot drop which can be chinmeyed down. Didn't try the gully walk-off as shown in guidebook.

Good and sustained
You can down climb through the gully, but there is a yucca that pretty much blocks the whole gully now. Recommend a rappel

very nice climb. better of the two popular ones up here. the 5.9 splitter is a much better start than the chimney.
