Description:

If you're not comfortable at the grade, pick something else. This is the striking white arete about 100' right of the stairs from the parking lot. Though the climbing certainly isn't harder than than 10a, it is heady and bold. A fixed pin used to protect the crux, but is now gone. You can place a 00 TCU (or like-sized piece) in its place, but it uses up part of the crux handhold. It's possible to catch a fall from the crux, but your belayer had better be good. If you're up for it, you won't be disappointed. Angel's Arete has just the right mix of perfect stone, aesthetic climbing and terror.
