A couple of escape-the-belay session are coming up here with an all-volunteer organization. And thoughts turn to a belay backup should the student lose rope control during the exercise. Likely, there is a myriad of ways to do the backup and attached is one of them. How bad/good is it? What other backup belay config would be better? Why use live human for victims anyway? All comments welcome (well, almost all - this is the wild wild west after all). Bill L instructions diagram
