Description
A three-person, extremely roomy tent with one striking feature—there’s no floor. Without a floor the Megamid weighs only 3 1/2 pounds and dishes out 81 square feet of livable space. Okay breathe… it’s not that big of a deal! Keep in mind that sans floor the Megamid can be pitched over a snow-pit on spring ski tours to provide a shelter you can stand in, hang out in, cook in, spill in. Use this phenomenal little get-up over rocky areas where other tents couldn’t dream of going. Includes a net-covered vent at the top of the door for maximum air flow and double zipper flaps around the door.
Megamid Floor For all the talk about how avant-garde a tent without a floor is, there are times when it simply can’t cut it. That’s why we’ve made an optional, detachable floor which utilizes button-and-loop attachments to the tent and shock-cord loops to the tent stakes. This floor jives with Megamid models made from 1999-2001, but can also be used with previous models with eight 2" shoestring loops attached to the tent. Use it for rain-soaked dirt or while camping on the beach. Unless you’re into sand fleas, in that case you should opt out on this one.

Have been using a Megamid for three years. It rules! I live in Colorado, I use this tent (mostly at altitude) from mid-October thru May. I don't use it during the 3 summer months when I need a bug screen. Its light, hardly bigger than a nalgene bottle and can comfortably sleep 2 people with all their gear or 3 with most of their gear. Its well ventilated for cooking inside during a storm and spacious to hang out in. It pitches with 2 ski poles (avy probe type) and has withstood many winter storms and some serious winds. Am very pleased with its performance.
