Great autolocker 5 out of 5 stars

How much chalk are people using!?! I've had this three years and a lot of climbing and it's never hung up on me. I'm a southpaw and the unlocking mechanism works very easily, one handed.

yuck... 1 out of 5 stars

Jam all the time with just the smallest amount of chalk on your hands. Also were recalled not to long ago. Check-em if you are using them.

I use these primarily in industrial height safety, so gumming up the works with chalk isn't a problem for me! I have no trouble whatsoever opening them one handed, provided you have them oriented properly on your gear. Lets face it, they can't make the ball too easy to press or it defeats the whole purpose of the autolock!

I find they are fantastic for lanyards and hauling systems. I get that feeling of satisfaction when I hear the click of one of these around a safety line!

The Am'D is cost-prohibitive and would be a nightmare for lefties. Great for the Gri-Gri. The ball mechanism requires a bit of finesse, otherwise it risks damage. Surprisingly, this was the only autolocker that lasted over two years at the gym where I worked before somebody ruined the autolock mechanism.

OK here is a problem...Check out the sliver of plastic that keeps this one from opening if the gate is cross loaded. VERY possible freeze/muck hazard too! I own one and I'll send it back to Petzl and see if they will trade it for a screw lock or a double action. BUY THE SCREW GATE!
