Mars Harness 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: Ried, 2008-07-10

This has been a great harness for me. I climb indoors and outdoors between 2 and 4 times a week, and the harness has incurred very little wear. The auto-locking buckles are convenient, but they can loosen up a bit after a hard fall or some hang-dogging. I usually just cinch them down extra tight before a difficult route. The padding is nice, and the inner mesh keeps you from sweating too much. The gear loops are angled forward so your gear is always where you need it. Overall, the harness is great and I'm very happy with it.

This harness totally rocks, the foam is way thicker and mor firm than the singing rock (I have not idea what the first reviewer is talking about) its comfortable and a way better price than other harnesses with auto locking buckles. I think maybe truckyme had his other harness taken by a friend who did not want him climbing any more.

This harness was a loaner after mine got stolen, and I must say that this is probably the least comfortable harness I have ever used. The webbing along the waist is painfully small (and the padding painfully thin) so it digs into your hips and the legs loops pinch and grind at you skin. The only reason this thing didn't get a 1 is because the gear loops and buckles are actually quite decent. On another note: this harness isn't that cheap for what you get. If price is a big concern get a singing rock, or better yet just pony up for the harness that fits you best.

The bottom ring pulleys work ok but the foot straps broke on mine and I had to buy an aftermarket sprocket for it. Probably just a fluke though. I love the auto bracketing function and the overall quality is good. Compared with others in the same price range, the damping and finger webbing is better than most. One very cool doodad.

comfortable, quick & easy to use. I did manage to partially rip out one of the gear loops but that was a more of a freak accident than anything else.
