When youre expecting a cold bivy or a night out during your next climb, pack your gear in the Millet Peuterey 40 Backpack and take on big, difficult routes. Access your gear through the waterproof gusset over the top opening, or open the side zipper when youre roped in. Strap your skis to the sides of the Peuterey, and stash your crampons in the front pouch when youre off the ice. Your ice tools stay secure thanks to Millets FPP ice-axe holders. The Peuterey also features Millets Free Flex System which allows independent motion between the waist-belt and harness.

Great Design but.... Learn To Sew 3 out of 5 stars

Review by: secander, 2011-05-30

******* The Good *******

- Crampon pouch: this is an amazing idea! It allows me to quickly access my crampons and put them on while all my companions are still rummaging through their backpack to find them. In addition, this pouch is the perfect size for a 2L bottle of water and it gives you easy access!

- The Axe Loops: wonderful design allows you to quickly pull out an axe with minimal hassle.

- Front gear loops: great when you're on a multi-pitch climb and simply don't have enough room on your harness.

- Side Zipper: wonderful idea to allow easy access to the interior of your pack. This was extremely useful!

******* The Bad ********

- The Top Zipper: It broke and I had to resew it.

- The Crampon Pouch: The bottom of it came unsewed, and I had to resew it.

- The Shoulder Straps: BOTH sides came unsewed and I had to resew them. (this was particularly bad because I was hundreds of meters off the ground on a climb in the alps)

****** In Conclusion *****

A well-designed, but poorly constructed, backpack! If you enjoy sewing, I'd highly recommend it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
