Description
Shares the same shell as the Expe. However, the Vertical uses one shell size down for the same fit.
Why? The Performance Fit liners in the Vertical are slightly thinner to deliver better technical ice climbing performance. Never fear: they're still toasty to -40F.
In fact, the Vertical is as warm as the competitions "expedition" boots, making them ideal for adventures in the lower 48. And Y-Technology ensures they'll hike as well as they climb.
PERFORMANCE:
Expedition: Very Good
Vertical Ice: Excellent
Hiking: Very Good

Great boots! I got them for Ice Climbing, and they worked really well. They're not a pair of thin leather boots so you won't get that sensetivity, but they're warm, comfortable, and they protect your feet really well. I wore them on a 3 mile bushwack yesterday, laced them up loose, and they worked better than my hiking boots would have.
Make sure you leave enough room in them. I couldn't imagine a better double boot for me. Get the Degre's for snow slogging, and the Expes for altitude and extreem cold. But these are the best compromise.
I'd use them Ice climbing for all but the hardest of mixed stuff where sensitivity really matters. 2004 and later models will have new thermo-fit liners.
Awesome boot, probably the only plastic I'll ever buy.
