Description

One of the most popular climbing shoes around, the venerable La Sportiva Mythos rock shoes are adored by both beginners and pros. Patented Mythos lacing system fine-tunes the fit to the shape of your feet for the perfect feel whether youre on a long multipitch climb or at the gym for a quick workout. Soft unlined leather uppers stretch and mold to the contours of your feet, offering a snug form fit for excellent performance. Great for crack climbing, the low toe profile lets you slot your feet in thin splitters. 4mm Vibram XS Grip outsoles stick well whether youre smearing or climbing cracks rands are perforated to allow for stretch and comfort.

Not very durable 2 out of 5 stars

Review by: radioface, 2009-08-24

The first day I climbed in these, the metal eyelet for the terminal lace broke off. The second week I climbed in these (Indian Creek), the stitching on the outside edge that secures the laces came undone and I was jamming on shoelace instead of leather. Four months later, I have holes in the leather on the outside edge of the feet, making jamming quite painful. If you're a sport climber or whatever, these shoes might work. I don't know. If you climb cracks, you're fuct. Before they blow out, they work pretty well, given the flat-toed design. After they blow out, you realize that you have wasted a good bit of money.

These are the 1st and only climbing shoes I've owned, and I've never second guessed them. Soooo uber comfortable. I remember they were a bit pricey compared to others I tried on at REI, but no others compared to how they fit and feel.

First pair of shoes I have ever owned, so I don't have much to compare them too. The break in period was short (one longer, sweaty session at the gym) and they are very comfortable. I bought them 2 sizes smaller than my street shoes and the fit is amazing.

My only compliant is that the sole seems to be getting thing in the toes already. I have only owned them 2 months (maybe 15 climbs).

This is by far the best shoe on the market. It is a bit pricy but the comfort of this shoe outlasts all others in its competition.

fantastic show... with flaws 3 out of 5 stars

This shoe is fantastic for climbing, for all the reasons everybody says. But it has major problems with durability. If you climb cracks at all, the shoelaces will break. You can retie them, but they will break again. Then the stitching around the laces near the toes will totally blow apart, leaving you with an unusable shoe.

Anybody have any tricks to make them more durable or know of any similar shoes?
