Description

The La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boot received a 2004 Backpacker magazine Editors Choice Award. This boot, weighs in at a super light 2lb 10oz, one of the reasons its won favor with mountaineering gurus worldwide. The Gore-Tex membrane is guaranteed waterproof, while remaining breathable. La Sportiva took their climbing shoe background to heart when they created the snug-fitting Trangos lacing system with lace lock. Another feature that sets the Trango apart from the competition is the 3D Flex ankle-hinge system. This support system remains flexible from side to side while providing stability when front pointing in crampons. The Trango is compatible with neumatic crampons. AVAILABLE FOR NORTH AMERICAN SHIPMENT ONLY.

Trango S Evo - ideal multi-purpose boot. 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: FabienenCordoba, 2008-06-28

The current version of the shoe includes a gore-tex lining and is an ideal multi-purpose boot for long days of easy-moderate mountaineering (up to D snow, AI3 in my case and 5.8 rock - the latter well-protected). Good alternative to the Garmont Tower GTX if you have wider feet than the Garmont sole.

Of course, they are light so don't take them if you plan:
- cold (winter and/or altitude)
- scree (they have some stiching rather low on the boot that will not survive intensive scree descents).

These boots are great for mountaineering. They fit my foot well, have great traction, and are suprisingly precice. I can climb near my limit on edges and wider cracks due to the solid Vibram sole and the full rand. They do show a little more wear than I would like after almost a year of heavy use, however.
