This is a photo of Liberty Ridge on Mt Rainier. The climber in the photo is Jim Johnson of Seattle. Jim and I climbed Liberty Ridge on 6-20-02. We bivied on Curtis Ridge and climbed the route from our bivy, back over the peak to the car in 26 hours. Long day. The route ascends the obvious rib in the middle of the peak. This is my first summit of Mount Saint Helens. It was a great day and I became really sunburned. Mt. Adams is in the background. It was some of the best glissading of my life! I have been back several times. The photo was taken by my climbing partner
