This one's for Ed

epic_ed loved his dog. It's really that simple. Words cannot properly capture how he felt about his pooch, who went spiritual this week, so I won't even try. I know he's heartbroken right now. Dogs are so special to their people. Perhaps some of his friends could give him an e-hug?

Eulogy to Phoenix

One crisp December weekend Alex and I got stranded in Scottsdale. We had climbed with Ed and his crew, and at the end of the day, we got in the Adventure Subie (may it also RIP) to return to my mom's house in Gilbert. Well, Subie crapped out. I don't even remember why. All of the auto parts stores were closed for the evening, so Alex and I stayed at Ed's and had a slumber party. Ice cream and movies, good times!

Next morning, the men were fixing up a lumberjack breakfast to terrify any sport climber, but not Ed ;) Phoenix was chillin' in the kitchen, hoping for scraps. I was asleep (IMAGINE THAT). Rascally Ed tiptoed over to my slumbering mass and gently laid a paper towel soaked in bacon grease on my butt, which was poking in the air like a cairn. He quietly called Phoenix over, and set her to licking my hiney. Snicker snicker snicker!!

Bless Phoenix. She was half my age and at least my full weight. But she was one beautiful Rottie, and I know Ed will always keep her in his heart- there's plenty of room.
