Cotton Kills
Ok, here's what lead up to this picture. I never really did much hiking before my bros and I were going to climb the East Face. I had all the gear I needed and even took extra, because from all the books I've read, it was quite possible we'd be waiting out the weather for days. Needless to say, my pack weighed 90lbs. Also, although my boots were broken in, I didn't know anything about synthetic socks, so...I wore cotton. Day 1, hike from 8000 to just under 12000. Day 2 climb East Face. Day 3 hike down from 12000 to 8000 and take picture of painfully blistered feet. 11 blisters in all. Let this be a lesson to all. (Photo by: Unknown)

And to think I thought the mantra 'Cotton Kills' refered to its non-insulating properties. Clearly it means it will literally KILL YOUR FEAT! |
