Did Not Win the Starring Role in Eiger Sanction

A summer monsoon storm pours down miles behind Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly. The top is reputed to be the home of Spider Woman, an important deity who taught the Navajo how to weave, among other things. The tower has been climbed; the established route is 5.10d 9 pitches, but no climbing is allowed any longer in the canyon. (At least not to most of us.) July 2008
