Polarwid checking out the next move on the Swamp Slabs at Granite Mountain. This area is incredible with 500 foot walls and awesome cracks in the center, and beautiful slabs and faces on the edges.

Average Rating = 4.39/5 Doing Shockley's the Vulgarian Way!

Doug Widdis (polarwid) on the roof of Shockley's Ceiling (5.6) in the Gunks wearing only a swami belt and boots. Dick Williams (one of the original Vulgarians) climbed Shockley's in the 60's in the nude just to shock the crowd at the hairpin turn. Inspired by the famous poster of this feat, I decided to repeat the climb the TRADITIONAL WAY!!!

Average Rating = 3.93/5 Doug Widdis (polarwid) on Son of Easy-O (5.8+)

Climbing on a beautiful spring day on Son of Easy-O. The first pitch is great, with technical face moves to start out, and a nice crack farther up. Just as much fun as the famous second pitch. Photo by Dave Pleasance.

Polarwid high on Cocaine(5.10+)

Average Rating = 3.94/5 Polarwid high on Cocaine(5.10+)

This is my favorite route on the drug wall. Protected by 6 drilled angles over 120 feet of climbing it has some excitement, but the crux friction moves are very well protected. I am just completing the crux traverse when my brother Dan took this photo.

Mike's Books

Average Rating = 3.40/5 Mike's Books

A couple of climbers take a rest on the huge ledge at the top of the first pitch of this moderate (5.6) off-width climb. The secret is to stay the hell out of the crack and stem your way through: just make sure to bring some bigger gear!

On the first ascent of the fourth pitch of this route (My Best Friend's Girlfriend, 5.11a/1pa) we weren't sure if you could chimney past this roof section or not: even with his helmet off (last frame) Sam couldn't manage the squeeze and was forced to nego

This enjoyable route...Being led down a path that at first seems paved with gold may cause you to dance. Ask questions before you follow another...is graded vs 4a.
