About Broad Peak:
| The locally recognized name of Broad Peak is Faichan Kangri. The summit of the main peak is 8047 meters/26,401ft above sea level. The name Broad Peak derives from the fact of its immensly broad summit ridge. Broad Peak is one of the 8000 meter peaks that towers over Concordia in the heart of the Baltoro Glacier area. It sits on the Pakistan/China border between K2 and the Gasherbrum peaks and was first ascended by four Austrians in 1957, including Kurt Diemberger and Herman Buhl. |
