About Bob's Hollow:
Bob's Hollow is an overhanging limestone sport crag about 15km south of Margaret River. The crag is near the coast, with beautiful white sandy beaches nearby. CALM states that camping is not permitted in the cave or at the carpark.
The climbs are in the mid-high range, so it is not the best place for the beginner. Most of the climbs are well equipped with glue-in bolts and lower-offs, but there are a few which rely on trad gear. Two guidebooks that cover the area are Margaret River ROCK and West Australian ROCK by Climbwest. West Australian ROCK is much better as it contains a photo topo and it has many of the newer routes which are not in Margaret River ROCK.
Climbing is possible all year round. Though the crag may tend to seep in winter. Spring and autumn are the best times to go. The crag is in the sun in the afternoon, which can get quite hot, but you can always go for a swim on the beach. It can also get a little windy at times.
Camping is available at the Conto Field Camping Area run by CALM. There is also plenty of accommodation in Margaret River and the surrounding area.

A 4WD vehicle is good to have though not essential (make the walk-in a lot easier!). If you have a 4WD then you can go along Bob's Hollow Rd (4WD only). The turn-off to this road is just before the entrance to Calgardup cave. The 4WD road is quite rocky and some parts can get quite narrow. From the carpark it is only 5 minutes walk to the crag. If you don't have a 4WD then it is about a 40 minutes to walk in along the 4WD track (its about 3km). Alternatively drive the car to Contos Beach (and spring) carpark and then walk north along Contos Beach. This can be quite a slog (heavy packs and soft sand). Another option is to walk along the Cape to Cape Track.
|Access Issues:||Access has and will always be on a knife edge for this beautiful little crag. SO PLEASE: Dont camp at the crag and especially don't light fires under any of the limestone formations or caves(has already been done and looks terrible!). Toileting: take a trowel and TP, making sure you head well away (100m ) and please take your rubbish with you:)|
