From Christchurch, just before entering Little River township, turn right into Okuti Valley Rd. Head up Kinloch Road, to Bossu Road. Follow Bossu Rd east ~5-6kms to the 4-way intersection. Turn right, down into Peraki Valley. Park at the stock pens on the left, and cross the paddocks heading straight for the obvious cliffs (west).
Technically, there is no camping. But if you ask nicely at the farm house (end of road, over the foot bridge), the Pattullo's might allow swimming and camping on the beach. |
| Access Issues: |
The cliffs themselves are on public land, but the paddocks are privately owned. The farmer (D. Pattullo), is happy to allow access as long as gates are left as found and stock is not disturbed, i.e. NO DOGS! and don't go during lambing (Sep-Oct). For your own safety, watch out for cows with calves, they can be very aggressive. A phone call and/or note on the car is always appreciated. |
