About Dow Crag (OS):

One of the finest crags in the Lake District. East facing and best in the morning. There are five large buttresses with over 100 routes in all grades, and they are 250 to 350 feet tall. The best climbs are to the left of the crag and they keep the sun the longest also. A CRAG NOT TO BE MISSED!
Nearest town or city: Coniston
Directions: OS GR SD 263 976 Alt. 667m
2.5 miles west of Coniston. From the town, take a small lane posted WALNA SCAR TRACK past the Sun Hotel and follow this up a hill and through some gates to a parking area on some grass. A fairly level path leads off west, then after a mile turns right up a hill and goes to a lake called Goats Water. If you don't see the crag here, you took a wrong turn.
