About Kinder Downfall (OS):

This area offers a lifetimes worth of routes in the lower grades, but at 2,000 feet above sea level is predominantly a summer crag. The popular Pennine Way walk nearby makes it rather busy with walkers and you should always watch for rocks being kicked or thrown off the edges of the crags.
Nearest town or city: Glossop
Directions: OS 110 GR SK 082 889 Alt. 560m
3.5 miles SE of Glossop. Take the A625 south to the village of Hayfield, turn left in to the village and follow the road around left to Kinder reservoir after one mile. The crags are 1.5 miles behind and slightly to the right of the back of the reservoir. Take a footpath from the back left hand end of the lake, this goes up to a col at the top in about 30 minutes. The first crag to the right is Mill Hill Rocks, then about 2000 feet further is Upper Western Buttress. Continue around to reach Kinder Downfall about one mile from the col. Amphitheatre Crag is just to the right, Western Buttress further right, and Great Buttress is almost directly below.
