About Rollarit:

Topo from

The cliff isnt high at all, a 50m rope will actually be too long for you! A 30m rope would probably be the best length, but dont go out and buy a new rope. This is a very popular crag because of the ease of access. The grades are between 4 to 7/7+ on the Finnish scale, so from 4 to 7a/7a+ on the French. Almost all the routes are topropable from two bolts at the top of each route. Bring a set of nuts if you want to lead the cracks and six quickdraws will be enough for the bolted lines. The rock is either gneiss or granite. I don't know the difference between one and the other so I labeled all areas gneiss, just in case! Depending on your ability, this is a fun crag for your first summers out, or for when you cant get out to anything greater. There's enough routes for a whole summer, unless you climb every day.
Nearest town or city: Vantaa
Directions: Situated right outside of the borders for the city of Helsinki, Rollarit is actually inside the city of Vantaa. To get there by car, take the Itäväylä out of the city until you pass the turn to Mellunmäki. After this you'll see a sign telling you that you have entered Vantaa and soon after turn left onto Kehä III. After the turn you'll go over a small hill and on your way down you can see a small path leading into the woods on your right. Park your car somewhere on the side of the road. The topobook says, 'Cars only on the eastern side, completely off the road!' If you can't figure it out, the eastern side is the side that the path and the cliff are on. Coming from Vantaa, just take Kehä III almost to the end. It will eventually become just a regular two lane road. The path will be on your left.

If you don't have a car, you can bike or walk from the Mellunmäki metro station. A map is useful to navigate through the suburb, but even easier might be to ask someone which way Kehä III is. 'Missä on Kehä kolme?'

Make sure that you are not blocking the road at all, the traffic is very heavy!
