About Ith-Holzen:

Holzen is second to Luerdissen for most popular climbing area of Ith. It has 13 crags of limestone, offering several hundred routes, with good climbing spread across the grades. The cliffs get much more sunlight than those of Luerdissen (mostly SW facing), allowing the rocks to dry out faster after a rainfall. The first 5.12 in northern Germany was climbed here in 1981 (Schulterweg, 5.12b, on the Drachenwand, climbed by M.Sykora).
Nearest town or city: Escherhausen, Nieder Sachsen
Directions: From Eschershausen, follow the road signs to the village of Holzen. Drive into the village and up the hill. Just before leaving the village, turn left, onto a onto side street leading toward the forest. Follow the street several hundred metres, bear left, until one reaches the forest and a parking area. From the parking area and the Parkplatz Wand climbing area, walk left along the main trail to reach the rest of the cliffs.
