About Gist Ddu(OS):
The impressive central buttress has some excellent climbing on this 250 foot crag. Most of the routes follow the vertical grooves and aretes, and the crag is only mildly vegetated. Over 20 routes in all the grades on reasonably sound rock. The harder routes are on the right hand side following the big corners. East facing and high up in the hills, good weather is needed. The outstanding views make the trip worth it though. |

Directions: | OS124--GR872/255 Seven miles southeast of Bala. Take the B4403 southeast and at Llanwchllyn, turn left on the small road to Talardd. Turn right over the bridge, continue for a while and park. Walk for about five minutes up the right side of the valley and the crag should be visible. Keep right, then traverse along to avoid the really wet, boggy ground. About a 20 to 30 minute hike depending on the conditions. |
