The remaining snow left in the gullies during the spring melt offers up some nice alpine routes over what is normally loose-rotten limestone. The approach from Hwy 541 (Highwood Pass) is less then 1/2 a kilometer through sparsely treed forest to wide open meadows and scree slopes. From car-to-car, involves an easy 4 km loop. No matter what route you choose, you have several options for an easy descent. The meadows provide a major source of food for foraging spring bear, so bring your spray and keep your eyes open.
