About Jasper:
| Jasper has endless rock climbing and mountaineering areas, without the crowds of Banff and Canmore. You can climb rock March to October and waterfall ice in the winter. Certain iceclimbs survive until June! The crags are predominantly on limestone and quartzite. Alpine rock routes like Mt Colin or Mt Edith Cavell are exceptional classics. Many routes remain to be put up or rediscovered - its a mountaineer's paradise. The jasper-hinton alpine club of canada is fairly active in the area, and is a great way to meet locals that know their way around, since we still don't have a guidebook. |
