About Barrier Mountain:

An excellent early season crag with a huge variety of routes from 5.4 trad to 5.12d crimp horrors. The crag is a bit old school so expect fixed pins and old bolts along the way but the rock is fun and warm. Huge variety of moderate routes (5.8-5.11)close to the road.

As of March 30th, 2003, climbing here is in!

Nearest town or city: Kananaskis
Directions: Highway 40 to barrier lake, look up see north facing walls on south side of highway. From calgary it is just past the barier lake dam. Just after you go past the foot of the mountian (it is prety obvious what mountain I am talking about when you get there) pull a U turn and park in the ditch close to the barier lake sign (see picture of me climbing the sign). Follow the trial up the creek .. it is about a 10 minute walk fairly steep uphill .. not to be done with excess gear.
