About Gunton Quarry:

Two quarries 53 km north of Winnipeg and 1.6 km southeast of Gunton provide excellent practice climbing. The rock is Ordovician dolomite (a form of limestone). Whle much of it is loose and best avoided, very good quality rock is found on the west side of the East Quarry and the east side of the West Quarry (see diagram). Routes are short (5-7 m), sustained, and varied. This is a practice area: most climbing is top-roped and there are few named routes.
Nearest town or city: Winnipeg
Directions: From Winnipeg proceed go north on Provincial Highway 7. Go left on an unmarked gravel road 18.1 km after the Stonewall junction and 1.6 km before the turnoff to Gunton. A deeply rutted lane to the right just before the railroad tracks leads to the quarries.
