About Tablelands:

The tablelands are one of main reasons Gros Morne National Park is national. The geology here is just amazing. The tablelands are actually a piece of the earth's mantle thrust up to the surface. This location is one of the best preserved examples of an "ophiolite suite" complex in the world. The rock is periodotite and because of the high levels of Magnesium the tablelands remain unvegetated for the most part and a weird orange color. Come check it out man... it rocks. The rock is really neat for climbing.
