About The Rock Gardens:

This is probably the most used and easiest accessible rock climbing area in the Yukon. When the weather is good, it hosts sport climbers and instructional courses almost around the clock (Land of the Midnight Sun!). Hidden in a small draw just off of the Alaska Highway, it consists of mostly granite and has endless bouldering as well as many quality routes. Due to constant use over a long period of time, "The Gardens" are very clean by normal Yukon standards. In recent years, top anchor bolts have been placed above many of the routes. The area was recently threatened with destruction as a quarry for road fill, but it is now protected, and will hopefully remain so for the future.
Nearest town or city: Whitehorse
Directions: Approaching Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway from the south, turn south onto Lobird Road. Travel about 0.7KM, then turn right onto a dirt road and follow the left branch until you see a low parking area on your right. One can also park just off of Lobird Road and walk in all of the way. From the parking area, it is a short walk to the south on a good trail that encircles the climbing area.
